Epic Adventure -- Day 90 -- 27/11/2012 -- Selebi Phikwe

We ended up sleeping it quite a bit, again. And once more started our morning off with coffee and tea on the veranda with Nigel. We had done almost everything we wanted to do in Phikwe and so planned on spending most of the day doing nothing at all. I spent the morning responding to the emails that I had sent yesterday, which because of their content took much longer than I had anticipated. Jenny played on the iPad looking at more home improvement DIY projects. Nigel told us that Alex was keen to have an afternoon tea at the Phokoje lodge where we had our very late breakfast a few days ago. We finished all of our computer work while we waited for Nigel to return to the house for lunch.

We had sausages left over from the rugby match for lunch and confirmed with Alex that she would pick us up and drive us to the lodge. Alex arrived at 2:30pm and drove us to meet her friend for tea and coffee (something that our time in Phikwe was never short of). Jenny had a chocolate milkshake, I had a beer and Alex had a coffee. Her friend arrived shortly after with her young daughter and joined us. The service was not much better during this visit but the scenery around the lodge meant it didn't matter too much. At tea we spoke about having some drinks that evening at the squash club, so when we departed we stopped at a bottle shop in town to pick up bottles of red and pink J.C. le Roux to have before, which we put straight into the freezer when we got back to Nigel's house. Alex stayed with us once we got back to the house and we all waited for Nigel's return.

We played a few games of shit head till Nigel arrived and popped open the red champagne as soon as he got home, which was met with his extreme approval! We eventually opened another bottle that he had in the fridge, while I cooked honey and lemon chicken and Dan and Alex continued playing card games. Unfortunately Dan came up with a stupid idea to do a shot of apple sours if we burned the deck(retired the current cards in play), which involved either a 10 card or four of the same cards consecutively. I epically cheated, as I kept picking up the 10 cards and whilst Alex and Dan were not looking, I would switch them with other cards from the 'burnt' card pile :D Nigel spotted me switching the cards but didn't say anything, and it took till very near the end of the game for Dan to realise what was up because he spotted the numerous 10's and realised that no one had played them! Haha :D I did have to do a concession shot, but they had to admit that I was pretty cool :D

We headed off to the squash club and once we got there and bought our first round of drinks, mine being a fanta because I was driving, we started playing pool. Dan and I pared up against Alex and Nigel, a good swap because they were evenly matched and Dan is really good whilst I'm total rubbish. We won the first game, and after a couple more I switched and played with uncle Nigel who helped show me how to play a it better and I ended up sinking two balls consecutively and the black to win the match! Hurray! We only had to endure one tequila shot from Alex the whole evening, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Our games of pool were really fun but unfortunately it ended too soon as 10pm was closing time. We waited with her while the girl behind the bar locked up, just to make sure she got away safely, before heading home. When we got there we realised we had left the bottle of pink champagne in the deep freeze the whole time and even though it had not yet frozen in the bottle, when we opened it it froze up a little and turned into a kind of slush puppy, which was delicious! After polishing off the last bottle Alex left and we all went off to bed after a wonderful last night in Phikwe.
