Epic Adventure -- Day 37 -- 5/10/2012 -- Cape Town

We woke up this morning and packed the car ready for our departure from the Inverness timeshare. Jenny had arranged massages for all three of us through a friend of Chantel's for very cheap (R145 for a one hour full body massage) and so while Jenny packed up the last of the flat I drove Lesley to her appointment at 9:00. We had many errands to run and so figured that the 2 remaining people not having a massage each hour could finish all the tasks. This turned out not to be the case because we forgot to factor in Cape Town rush hour traffic.

Turned out that an hour was nowhere near enough time to do just about anything, so when it came time for my appointment at 12:00 I had to decline in favour of driving back across town to pick up Lesley's watch at the jewellers. To further complicate things Chantel had accidentally taken her house keys to work instead of leaving them for us at her house. Because we were picking up JD and Charlotte at the airport at 14:30 we needed to empty the car of bags. This meant an additional errand to Chantel's work to pick up the keys then back to her flat to empty the car. It's probably a good thing I decided to pass on my massage because we wound up pulling into the airport at 14:25!

We waited for them at domestic arrivals for about 20 minutes before getting a text from JD saying that their bags were not yet there and they were starting to worry. After another 15 minutes we received another text from him saying their bags had been put on the next inbound flight from Joberg due to arrive at 15:15. They eventually found their bags and made their way through the arrival gate to meet us at almost 16:00! We drove them back to their accommodation at Lagoons beach hotel so they could drop of their bags and change after their long day of travels. We had a little bit of time to waste before Chantel finished work so we headed to the bar in the hotel and all had a much needed drink. Jenny loved her very large frozen strawberry margarita! Their bar also looks out over the sea to Table Mountain, which is extremely beautiful.

We all then drove back across town to Chantel's flat and met her after work so we could go out for some drinks and food. Chantel phoned a cab for us and we set off for a pub called &Union where they had some very nice heated outdoor seating. We ordered a few buckets of beer and some sandwiches and unwound from a fairly chaotic day. Once we finished our food and drinks we called a cab back to Chantel's house and enjoyed some castles and some wine before turning in for a fairly early night.
