Dan woke up quite hung over this morning, as were JD and Charlotte, but I felt great! We swiftly packed up the car, grabbed the rest of our stuff from JD's room and said goodbye to everyone. We left at around 11am for Stellenbosch, and had been recommended to try an all you can eat sushi place by Chantel. When we got to Stellies we parked the car and walked around the streets for a little while, as it is a really quaint and pretty town, with lovely old architecture and very interesting shops. A few of them were open so we popped in to have a look, and in one of them I bought myself a long lucky bean necklace.
We tried to phone Chantel to find out what the name of the sushi place was but were unable to reach her, so looked on the Internet for somewhere. Our searches lead us to a very closed restaurant, but Chantel phoned me back just as we got there and gave us directions to Hiyashi, the all you can eat sushi place she recommended. Unfortunately those directions included a BP garage, so in our infinite wisdom we simply put that into the sat nav and went to the wrong side of town, it turns out there are two BP stations in Stellenbosh. There was a really old shop there called XXXXX that mum remembered buying her very first lapel pin from, some popped in for a look, it is a very higgledy piggledy shop that sells literally everything you can think of, old or new!
Eventually we found Hiyashi and sat down for lunch, but as it was the all you can eat day, all the university students were there and it took ages for us to be served, and then even longer to get our drinks or food. We ended up getting two plates of sushi each, it was all very very delicious and we had more than enough to fill us up, so I was glad we went. They could do with more staff however!!
As lunch took so long we were a little late getting to Arum Lilly Log Cabins, but Mandy had left the keys for us under the mat, so we were able to go straight in and drop our bags. They had also started the fire heated hot tub for us!! As we didn't want to get too settled and them have to leave again to do jobs and get food, we set off straight away. We drove to Ceres and went to the Pick and Pay to get some food for breakfast and dinner, and then took mum to see Olive Rock. We grabbed a couple of bottles of our champagne from Nick and Simones house and popped those in the car for later, and had a walk around Olive Rock. Mum loved it as I had hoped she would, and we spoke a little about the details of what we were going to do for the set up on Tuesday.
We then drove back to our beautiful cabin, stoked the fire in the hot tub and set up a fire outside, and settled down to enjoy a dinner of biltong and snoek pate on provita biscuits and champagne. I was the only one who used the hot tub, it was so wonderful! I fully reccomend Arum Lilly, it is so tranquil and beautiful, we could not have been more content. With our fire also going snide the cabin was levy and warm, and we slep piecefully that night in our very beautiful room overlooking the dam and mountain.
